Project Reflection

This project has showed me the usefulness of tools such as Webnode to allow people to develop websites who don't have the technichal knowledge to build a website with HTML and CSS. Tools such as webnode are easy to use and allow developers and writers to concentrate on the site content.

Software

Webnode provides a valuable service for users who need a website for their organisation, business or group. It is especialy useful for users who have no experience of developing website. As the use of websites increases it is becoming more important for small, local businesses and organisation to be online and posting regular updates.

Webnode has some shortcommings that could slow down development. The following is a list of some of the features that could be useful.

• Spellchecking in the editor could save content writers time by allowing them to check their work in the browser.
• Adding alt tags to photos in lists would make the site more accessible to visually imapred users.
• A colour contrast checker would allow designers to choose colours that work well for their users without having to user third party tools.

Design Process

The design of the site followed the document created for the first assignment for IL35620. The development of the site followed the document allowing for quick development of the site navigation and pages. Content was then created to provide information for prospective clients.

A small amount of custom HTML was written for the project to allow a sub-navigation section to be created for the instruments and stock pages. I couldn't find a way of simply creating a box that contained links to child pages of the current page.
